Fry-Up Breakfast Pizza

I spent last week in Coos County, and haven't been in my kitchen since last weekend. I usually come home from these forays hungry for my own cooking, but we had plans on Friday and Saturday and so I still haven't really had any QT in the kitchen. After the marathon of Thanksgiving and a week of absence, I guess I'm still getting my groove back.

I hate to take a break for a week, and then return with some mess on a plate like this. It's not a sexy comeback, it's just breakfast. I made most of the components of an English fry-up: eggs, a couple rashers of bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes (just missing the black pudding and beans, really), and baked them on pizza dough. I also added some diced fingerling potato, chopped red onion and cheese curds for good measure.

I have a list of pickles and chutneys to crank out and can for holiday gifts, so that should keep me busy for awhile today. Here's to getting things back to normal.

Glad you have some home time. I've been doing the cookie thing all day. Ready to really collapse with a book.

Welcome back, and the way I see it, its wintery. For some reason, only summer food gets to look elegant and super refined--winter food should be rustic to be comforting. Or so I tell myself, lol. ;-) Whatever the case, that pizza looks delicious to me!

I forgive you; not everyone can be Justin Timberlake. But you brought sexy breakfast back.

You rock.

Hi. I just found your blog and just wanted to let you know that you've just gained a stalker. Pig roast, bi bim bap, tuna casserole, soba? Yup, consider yourself stalked. Wait, that sounds like celery.

Welcome back Heather! I love this creative heart attack on a plate! All we need is a warm English ale to wash it down with!

Alicia - I thought of you when I made it. :)

Deeb - That's a helluva way to break a dry spell, my friend.

Jen - The cookie thing is keeping a lot of people busy these days!

Heather - I think the beans may have been tasty, too. :P

'Ey, Mikey - You nailed it. Winter food really just belongs in a bowl.

Jube - There's just too much sexy for one person alone to bring back.

Cookie - Sans the gravy, I guess so? Oh god, you may have just invented a THING.

Tokyoastrogirl - Yay! I can tell already you'll be the good kind of stalker, the kind every girl wants. btw, I totally have an Astro Boy hologram wallet that I got at Hakuhinkan Toy Park.

Petah - You're absolutely right - this needed a nice beer with which to wash it down.

Beer for breakfast?! Ha ha ha :)
Hey, come on, this is sexy in its own way too-- you know how grungy bedhead and bedroom voices can be sexy? Sort of like that. ;) (I'll have the beans on the side, though.)
Welcome back home!

nothing says "i'm home" like some breakfast pizza!

nothing about this sounds bad... this sounds like the best hangover cure.

Not sexy?! Oozy creamy cheese, ripe succulent young tomatoes, and sinful bacon, looks very seductive to me!

When I was in University there was a pub next door to my apartment that served the most phenomenal breakfast pizza - scrambled eggs, bacon, mushrooms, peppers, fresh tomatoes, and enough cheese that you could see it moving through your arteries. Hot diggity, that was the best hangover cure around.

Yeahhhh. This looks real good.
You had this for breakfast?
That's great!

Great pizza and great post. If I had some rare down time at home, I'm not sure my first thought would be, "I think I'm going to not just make a hot breakfast, but I'm going to bake it on a PIZZA." Kudos for you.

It might not be a sexy comeback but that's a damn sexy pizza right there.

Tres jolie!
