Yes, I'm posting popcorn. On a Friday morning. After the harried 5-times-a-week Foodbuzz challenge, I decided to take a wee break after the 10th. I'm still trying to figure out if I can/want to keep up the pace indefinitely.
So for today, I show you one of my favorite afternoon snacks. When I'm at the office, with no kitchen, and I need to graze (the only cure for the afternoon sleepies that doesn't require me to leave the building), I sometimes hit the snack box for a pick-me-up.
With so many people in our office trying to "be good" (why does eating food that bores us and makes us feel deprived equate to "being good"?), I have a hard time wrapping my mind around why we have one of those temptation boxes full of candy, meat "stix" and chips. You put a dollar in the box and take a snack. The only thing in there that won't give you diabetes is microwave popcorn. I put in a dollar and take my envelope of nutriment to the microwave.
Shake a little curry powder on top, toss in some dried fruit (always the diligent locavore, I like "craisins") and trudge back to my desk to finish up that EIS for Some Big Client.
I do have more interesting things to talk about, I swear. This weekend looks promising.

That looks really good for microwave popcorn! Now if only I could get the curry loving going on!!!
Hey, that's not bad at all, for healthy eatin' (I would one day love to try various chili powders. If only I was the movie-watching kind) :) Last week, instead of a full-on hungry man (chauvinist!) breakfast at a restaurant I had a "healthy" alternative of mango compote, kefir, and granola. I definitely did not miss the bacon and stuff :)
See, now I love the savoury popcorn. No sugar for me. I am sooo Going to try this!
Curry on popcorn sounds interesting. Why not. Im sure the cranberries add to it even more. I would try it.
This is interesting...plus I love me some dried cranberries!
The curry powder's in, ixnay on the craisins-ay.
I've got the duck thawing...
I've enjoyed your 5 a week postings. I know it's difficult to find time though.
I learn a lot. I had to look up bentō the other day, because I wasn't completely sure what it was.
I love craisins. However, today I have only eaten savoury things that crunch, and bubbly french booze. Sucks to be me.
This is dank. For real. This sounds like something I'd try to make my friends eat and then they'd say noa nd then I'd say "try it" and they'd say "ok, only because it's free" and then I'd say "here have some red drink with that" and then they'd say OK.
Hmmm...I don't mind the curry powder but I'm not so sure about the craisins here...
Aw, c'mon, you guys! It's microwave popcorn. I put curry on it. Big deal.
Everyone either hates the curry or hates the craisins. Both are good! Together! Trust me.
I'll post some real food this weekend.
MMmm I love curry on just about anything... Well maybe except on ice cream. What's your foodbuzz challenge? I've got a foodbuzz thing that's been keeping me occupied too.
I love that bowl with the bee on it!
Popcorn sounds pretty damn tasty too. I love curry powder on popcorn- but have never had the cranberry incarnation. Ever tried it w/ nutritional yeast? Very hippy. But good.
take a break, girl. NO way would i ever want to even attempt to post each day - you so deserve something for even trying. foodbuzz better be giving parting gifts for those who don't win the grand prize.
as for this popcorn - it's almost as if you read my mind. yesterday, a student of mine came into my office with a freshly popped bag of popcorn. i almost got wood (if i could) smelling it and became like a 5 year old demanding she fork some over to me - IMMEDIATELY. well, she did and it brought back the fact that i do not eat enough popcorn. i love it! this one looks so tasty and could be a meal for me instead of a snack!
This looks like a great combination!
I've been on a popcorn kick lately, eating it twice in three days, just prior to falling asleep. I'll have to try different flavour combinations next. This combo sounds fab. Thanks!
